Snowflake 2

 I realized after exchanging gifts with my daughter, I had forgotten to make her a handmade gift. So first I crocheted a cup of cocoa on Christmas Eve night, even added cotton ball marshmallows. It turned out larger than expected, so I went to the Quilling box on Christmas morning, since my hubby and I came up with our financially poor Christmas idea of “Gifts of Christmases Past” where we mess with gifts we received in the past and hadn’t touched in a while. His was a PS4 machine, mine was Quilling also known as Paper Filigree. 

I started on Snowflake #2 from the book, The Art of Paper Quilling. All was going nicely at this point, or so I thought. It ended up sticking to the cork work board, I had to chisel it off. I had little pieces of cork all attached to my beautiful Snowflake. Yeah, I screamed “Noooooo!” In agony. It was also a bit flimsy for sure after trying to get it off that cork. I grabbed a paint brush and some Mod Podge, it stiffened nicely. Then I painted over the cork with Liquitex Basic White paint. Added more Mod Podge where needed and tossed some glitter on that sucker to make it sparkle and  called it done!

New Years at Sunday’s Songs & Rhymes Challenge

 

I already had this little image stamped onto a card, so I cut it into an oval shape, dabbled a bit of ink around the edges. Colored with Copic markers. Embossed celebrate onto the front and embossed champagne glasses onto a die cut tag. Added two more tags, and some music notes. I also embossed the banner on the mint and the white pieces. Tied the tags together with a gold bow and dropped some sparkly sequins for confetti onto the page. 

The fun theme this week at Sundays Songs  and Rhymes has to do with the New Year so it inspired me to make a New Years themed card.

Hello friends! 

I hope you had a wonderful Christmas!

My husband and I came up with a tradition for these financially difficult Christmases. We call it “Gifts of Christmases Past”, that is where we play with gifts we received in the past when we were able to afford more to give than our love to one another. For him it was dusting off the PS4, for me it was Paper Filigree,  also known as Quilling. I made a Snowflake. It is drying but I will show you all very soon. 

Today I am here to share the card I made today. I had this flower embossed in my stash for years. I was waiting for the right card to use it on, I never had the right one, so I cut it up, corner punched the corner embossed designs and added them to a new card design using this cute image from Oddball Art Co by Lizzy Love. I probably had that large heart in my stash even longer, topped it with some cute heart stickers I received from a Pen Pal friend. The sentiment I bowed the paper out to lift it off the page more, punched the scalloped oval, and heart then using the insert from a box of Dove Chocolate I received for Valentines last year, I punched out the words to make a sentiment.
