Site Seeing With Flat Stanley!

Guess who is site seeing in Edmond,  Oklahoma? Why it is Flat Stanley visiting all the way from Indiana, courtesy of Zade. He's so excited to get started seeing our community that he was the first one out of the car!

First stop on the list since Edmond has several colleges but the one we will be passing by the most is the University of Central Oklahoma, UCO. We know how Flat Stanley loves music, his first stop the UCO Jazz Lab.

Oh Here comes someone now! Flat Stanley wondered if he knew how to play any instruments. Should he ask? He thought. He decided to keep on site seeing instead! There's so much to see!

Just a few blocks from the Jazz Lab is a historical marker that Flat Stanley wanted to see. The "First Schoolhouse" located at 124 E. 2nd Street. It is the first public schoolhouse in Oklahoma Territory in August, 1889. Miss Allie McCormick was the first teacher. School was taught at the school till 1899.

Flat Stanley at "The First Schoolhouse"
Flat Stanley loved seeing the First School of Oklahoma Territory and the mural was so amazing. Not but a few feet away Flat Stanley spotted another Mural on Sherry's Drug Store. He seen Oklahoma Route 66 and decided he must travel down Route 66!

Doesn't he just look so happy to be in Edmond, Oklahoma! He wanted everyone reading to see what downtown Edmond looks like. On the left we have The Edmond Sun, and also there is the oldest commercial structure in Oklahoma County. The building was Peoples Bank and a first National bank at one time. It was a bank till 1956.  There is a historical plaque on the building that tells a brief history. If you take a stroll down the streets of downtown Edmond you can find plaques on many historical buildings. The plaques list the earliest businesses that resided in those present buildings.

This amazing statue is dedicated to the 1st woman that jumped a train to stake her claim in Oklahoma Territory.

Next stop was the Train Depot Historical Marker, located west of Broadway and North of Second Street near the original train depot site.  The marker is inscribed with a short history of the railroad in Edmond and it's importance.

It was so hot today, Flat Stanley wanted to go swimming when he heard that there was a water park in Edmond with slides and several pools he couldn't wait to get in the car and go there! So we headed to Pelican Bay Aquatic center. The gates were locked, the pools were drained, they are closed for the winter months. Were so sorry Flat Stanley! But he kept on smiling because he knew there were more places to see!

Like a beautiful butterfly garden with waterfalls that we discovered on our way to see Spring Creek Park at Lake Arcadia. In June they have fun fishing events for kids and their Dads!

Just a few miles North of this entrance to Lake Arcadia is Route 66! We took a drive East down the famous America's Highway with the Round Barn  off of Route 66 just a short drive from Edmond to the town of Arcadia.

Flat Stanley was having so much fun site seeing that he fell asleep in the car on the way to our next stop. We decided to call it a day and we will show him more of the Great State of Oklahoma later! Don't miss out on his next adventure!! Stay tuned!

“Haunted Hop”

Hi everyone!
Thanks for playing along in our September blog hop!

The Blog Hop with Sean and Regina is featuring cards and sentiments celebrating HALLOWEEN this month! Halloween was always such a fun, spooky holiday growing up! I remember the excitement building up to pick out our costumes  and then the fun school Halloween parties to the furious finale….trick or treating! Then the late night sugar rush from eating the loads of candy you struggled to carry home. Good times! There are more great times to be had this Halloween, how is that you ask? Keep Reading!

Join us on our haunting hop! Each host/hostess will have a card creation posted that is his/her representation of what HALLOWEEN means to them.

Scrapbook Stamp Society is our blog hop sponsor! The overall winner will receive digi’s from our sponsor. Please visit them at http://scrapbookstampsociety.com/index.php?! Also some of our blog hop host/hostess designers will be offering blog candy as prizes on their blog sites, so please do not forget to visit his/her blog (and leave a comment) to be eligible for bonus blog hop prizes!

Happy Halloween Card 1
For this card I used a Stampin Up Bat punch, Martha Stewart Punch for the blood, Sentiment Anita Be Stampin, Cuttlebug Haunted House Embossing Folder, and a rubber wood mounted Mummy stamp

Happy Halloween Card2
For this card I crop lifted off the internet I used a tan card, attached strips of white torn paper till it looked like a mummy and added googley eyes! I thought it was a great simple way to make a Halloween card that I just had to share!

My favorite part of Halloween was the candy. I remember wearing a boys costume one year by the time my mother took us shopping for costumes all that were left were the unwanted costumes. I was He-Man that year. Most houses had no clue I was a girl till I turned around and they seen my long blonde locks of hair. I am sure being a "girly" girl, I wasn't to happy at the time but you do what you have to in order to get lots of goodies!

The Outlawz Come Back!!

Okay so I fell a few nuts short from the tree.. or whatever that old saying is...lol!  Those that know me already knew that! I have returned to my team at The Outlawz Greetings Challenges! I know you all missed me the few days I was away! ;)

I have plenty of time for work at my hubby's business, and can still share my craftiness all around! Thank you all for the wonderful farewell and even more so thanks for allowing me to return so soon while my chair was still warm and spinning...lol!

I look forward to seeing you all in the Greetings challenges!

What's On My Desk?

What's On My Desk? Well as I type this I hear little kids chanting "What's On My Desk?!!"  It's like my own theme in my head of course to my post to boost up my energy and write it with enthusiasm. :D

Yesterday, after having lunch with my hubby at our favorite Mexican joint in town, we headed over to one of my NEW favorite stores of all time... lol.. Bed Bath and Beyond!! I know I don't get out much! But I will tell you the very few times I make it to this store I see SOOOO much I want to buy! My husband was with me and he's worse than I am.. somehow he ended up with a Soda Making Machine! Just when we are trying not to drink soda and have as much soda pop in the house...lol! Oh well it makes him happy. He said he always wanted one... lol! The Root Beer's not bad. It's likes Shasta Root Beer in my opinion, he swears it's just like A&W so I won't burst his bubble. :)

So any hoot! Guess what is just right across the parking lot from Bed Bath and Beyond? Paper Arts! My local scrappers supply store! Oh yes! I wish I stopped there first! I felt so bad for as much we spent at the last store that I was just getting what I needed sticky tape stuff. I ordered some from BenFranklin stores online on Sept 8th, still have not received it, I couldn't do any paper crafting! So I stopped in Paper Arts and on my desk you will see on top of my tiny green shopping bag, my new sticky tape! I have never tried it but the owner of the store gave me an entire tutorial right then and there on all the sticky stuff I  bought. I felt odd with hubby right behind me but I didn't want to be rude, she was eager to teach me and I am eager to learn! Luckily his phone rang so he stepped outside. As I was checking out I seen it something I have been wanting to try and still haven't! Liquid pearls! AAAAAAaaah! I am so happy! Already used it on my newest project that I am working on. It's on my desk, on top of my paper cutter.

On my desk you will also find another rather large package going out, Flat Stanley waiting to go site seeing, peeking out behind my hand crafted clay name plate that Deanna, a dear friend, she made for me back in high school days. Peeking behind it is my newest Crafter's Digital Art Center Digi of a piglet for the Progressive Challenge! It is getting messier by the minute! Wait till my next posting! Lot's of projects going on in the future! Lots of messes to make! Weeeeeee!

Flat Stanley Arrives in Edmond!

It's a Bird.. It's A plane! No it's FLAT STANLEY! He came all the way from Indiana, courtesy of Zade! We are going to take him around town and show him some sites! Stay Tuned for Flat Stanley's Adventures!

What's On My Desk?

Tonight I wanted to try something new on my blog to fill in some of that dreaded blog space  you know the space between blog posts! Well who is willing to show off their desks after crafty time fun? I cleaned mine up tonight so I guess I cheated by posting my finished cleaned up version, but who wouldn't want to start their first messy desk post with a nice clean desk. You'll see as I make future posts of "What's On My Desk?" what kind of mess I get into during crafty time fun! I thought it might be fun to share so let's see what happens! :D

On my desk tonight, I have my donated cards to send to Trina my newest Martha Stewart Living Magazine, my newest card in purple that I made to apply for a designer position ando On my corkboard you may see a card you made if your a friend or blog follower of mine that has sent me a card! I decided to post them on my cork board as inspiration. I have more to pin so maybe in the next photo you will see a card you made for me. ;)

I had a hard time being able to get a picture taken of  What's on my desk tonight I had a visitor that wanted to be the center of attention...
