I was invited to an ornament exchange party with one of my co-workers. I decided I would make mine a handmade ornament. It took me 2 days to complete Snowflake #3

I included this beautiful Snowflake poem along with my ornament

I tried to decorate the handmade ornament up so it would be something someone would actually want.

Today I am sharing another adorable  image from Polkadoodles! It was my second choice of 3 images I won on the DigiChoosday Challenges. You can find the image in their shop at

For my card, I played with my Scor-Pal on a piece of scrap black card stock, as well as the top awning of the orange scalloped doily edge, I used a pumpkin Spellbinders folder to embossed the brown design paper, die punched the bats, and the edge of orange card stock, I added this fun striped ribbon, as well as a circle die punch to make this cute 3D pumpkin, the stem I made using my quilling tool. The sentiment is from Gecko Galz I finished  it off with a white pen on the bats eyes.

You may have noticed the quilled balloon. I actually made this when I first received my Quilling set at Christmas years ago. It was as good a time as any to give it a forever home on this card. 

 

I thought it would be best to keep my squirrel simple no trying to do up eyes like I tried to do a few cards back. I feel so guilty about how bad that card looks it is in my next print line up to redo that image. Back to this adorable card, I took a picture of the Copic markers used in coloring my image. They will be posted below.

Snowflake 2

 I realized after exchanging gifts with my daughter, I had forgotten to make her a handmade gift. So first I crocheted a cup of cocoa on Christmas Eve night, even added cotton ball marshmallows. It turned out larger than expected, so I went to the Quilling box on Christmas morning, since my hubby and I came up with our financially poor Christmas idea of “Gifts of Christmases Past” where we mess with gifts we received in the past and hadn’t touched in a while. His was a PS4 machine, mine was Quilling also known as Paper Filigree. 

I started on Snowflake #2 from the book, The Art of Paper Quilling. All was going nicely at this point, or so I thought. It ended up sticking to the cork work board, I had to chisel it off. I had little pieces of cork all attached to my beautiful Snowflake. Yeah, I screamed “Noooooo!” In agony. It was also a bit flimsy for sure after trying to get it off that cork. I grabbed a paint brush and some Mod Podge, it stiffened nicely. Then I painted over the cork with Liquitex Basic White paint. Added more Mod Podge where needed and tossed some glitter on that sucker to make it sparkle and  called it done!

Anything Goes on Mondays Greetings Challenge!

 

Hello again! Happy Christmas Eve!

 Today I am showcasing this little cutie from My Besties. I entered this card this week in the Monday Greetings challenge at www.outlawzChallenges.ning.com for their Anything Goes Challenge. I bought the design papers at a garage sale and couldn’t wait to use them, they came with the Bingo and party hat imagewhich is perfect or my birthday themed card.

Making of a Quilled Snowflake

Tools: Quilling tool or toothpick, tweezers, template  is nice to have, glue, and quilling paper strips


First Step: Using your quilling tool whether it is a toothpick, a slotted tool or not you will spin your strip of quilling paper into a circle and make it the 3rd  circle from smallest to largest on your template tool. Shown in photo above, note the circle holes. You will make 18 of this size and after gluing the end down to close the circle you will pinch it on both sides forming what is called a marquise. You start the snowflake by gluing six of the marquise together as shown in photo above.

Second Step: Glue 1 inch strips or little longer can always trim down later. Glue in between marquise shown above.

Third Step: Glue in pairs on the strips till you have used all of the largest sized marquise.

 Should look like photo above.

Fourth Step: Make 12 circles in the 2nd circle from smallest to largest on your template tool. Pinch into marquise shapes. Attach these 12 shapes around in pairs on the strips. Should look like photo below.

Fifth Step: Make 18 of the smallest circle on your template tool. Pinch into marquise shapes. Attach 12 in pairs on strips. Trim the tails if needed and attach remaining 6 marquise onto ends when dry shape as needed.

Twisted Thursdays Challenge

 What a super fun challenge at The Outlawz Twisted Thursdays! For my ornament I quilled snowflakes. I searched the internet for the perfect snowflake poem and found a unique poem from Emily Wilburton. I chose to print the poem out and attach it to the tags of the snowflakes. On the back of the tag is says that this snowflake was made by me! :D I love how they turned out. It was a perfect craft to do while watching movies with the family, with the exception of the lights were so dim I thought I was using all white paper to quill but oh well, it is definitely a one of a kind snowflake!

Quilled Easter Bunny Card

Every Tuesday at The Outlawz Girlz they have a color challenge. This weeks colors are brown and pink. I chose to Quill a brown bunny and layer him on top of a Pink  egg I cut out on my Cricut machine using my Easter cartridge and ran through my Cuttlebug machine embossing the egg. The white flowers are out of one of the egg patterns offered in the cartridge. I used the egg on another project and the flowers here.

Holiday/Special Occasion Challenge

for the challenge! I also submitted this card at SSC for the Copic Challenge.  I also used some of the beginner Quilling items I had made. My husband was asking me how come I hadn't been using the Quilling items on my cards so I had to make sure I keep him happy and show him a few cards with some Quilled items. :)
