Anysoldier 4th of July Card Swap

These cards turned out so cute, don't ya think! I had so much help with coloring the images. I am so thankful for my family and friends for helping me rush to get this project finished. You cannot tell by this photo but these all had glossy accents on their hat, nose, eyes, and some of the flags. I used up some of the firecrackers I had from last years swap and I am very pleased with how they turned out. I ran out of bears so I whipped up a few more cards without bears to reach the goal of 20 cards. The Anysoldier.com card swap is where a group of men & women get together and swap cards to place into care packages that we each send over to the Military. If your interested in checking it out, check out the swap here!

Tornado's on Your Birthday?!

Yesterday was my daughter's 17th birthday. Unfortunately, the evening was filled with Tornadoes and Thunderstorms. Normally the customer calls to cancel dinner reservations, but we actually had the restaurant where we had her birthday dinner planned call us and cancel. The entire state offices closed early at the request of our Governor. It was an intense storm with ferocious tornadoes. There was no way you could survive if you were not under ground it seemed although some thankfully made it through. Homes, business, vehicles gone like they vanished from the earth. The debris left behind was an enormous trail spreading across the state of Oklahoma. A church that had been demolished by the storm News reported that their checks and some papers were found 50 miles away! Nothing scares me more than a Tornado. There is nothing you can do to control it from destroying your homes, pictures your most treasured memorabilia. We were lucky it did not come into our town as it was first predicted, but so many were not so fortunate. A 3 year old boy still missing at this time, and the same family were told this morning their 18 month old died from injuries, while the mother and a 5 year old daughter are in critical condition. A very sad day.
Since our plans did not go well for celebrating my daughter's birthday we had to reschedule it for today, but I think her 17th birthday will be one to remember. I thought the birthday cake with the tornado was a perfect photo to use for this post. This is not her birthday cake, she doesn't much care for cake, she always requests cheesecake. So today is a do over and it is expected to be a VERY nice day.

High School Graduation

Today has been a great day! My son's Graduation was at 10 AM, and that started my day off perfectly! I woke up at 6 AM put the coffee on for my husband, let my pom poms out and then I got ready to go. By the time I was finished totally figuring out what I was going to wear and what not, it was 7:30 AM. I woke my daughter up so she could take her hour to get ready and when I returned to the master bedroom my husband was awake, well barely. He was bumping into walls you would have thought he was a drunk man. I think he stayed up to late the night before. I didn't mind it brought on the first laughter of the morning. :D He was pleased I had coffee ready! What a good wifie poo! I even ironed my daughter's dress while she got ready. By a quarter till 9 my son lets me know he is actually supposed to be downtown OKC at 9 AM, lining up. We still had to drive 30 minutes out of our way to pick up his girlfriend. We are almost to the Cox Convention Center and my son says uh oh it almost 9:45 we walk in at that time. I am panicked by this time but keeping my cool. We drop my son off at the front of the place and we proceed to get parking all the while I am worrying if my son made it on time. We find our seats, and if it weren't for the brilliant mastermind who thought of the graduates taking a tour around the stadium I would have worried up till they called his name on stage. But I seen him in the line when they walked them all the way around the auditorium and was so relieved. He made it. What a wonderful feeling of overwhelming happiness knowing your first born, one and only son has finally made it through high school. He was so stubborn all the way through. But we finally made it to this point. Thank You!

Anysoldier Summertime Fun Card Swap

Received my set of cards back from the Anysoldier Summertime Fun/ Memorial Day card swap! Such a special group of men & women that share their cards and letters for each of us to send to our soldier units of choice. The swaps really bring me great internal happiness to know I am helping make someone's day a little brighter. When you are a stay at home mother yet the kids are teenagers it really helps in any way that you can to try and regain some self worth by helping so many others. I have really enjoyed making cards and sending packages to our military servicemen and women it has really brought me some inner peace as I hope it has brought them some happiness as well.

Graduation Card

Did you get my doodle of the cap & diploma? If not you should! Here's the card I created using my doodled cap,  turned into a Cricut cut file, then using my Sure Cuts A Lot software to cut out. On this card I wanted to give it some dimension so I cut the top of one cut out cap and layered it onto another cut out cap. One card down and two more to make! Congrats to all the Grads of 2011!

Independance Day Accessories

What a fun project! This was my first attempt at using Glossy Accents so I still have some learning to do to get it to not have bubbles. I plan on wearing it for Independence Day! :D  I found it to be a fun project that even kids could do! I found this tutorial at CDAC.

Toadily Happy Easel Card

I hope everyone had a wonderful Mother's Day! Whether your a new Mother, a grandmother, or maybe your babies are furry friends. I hope you had a fulfilling and happy weekend! But now my favorite day of the week is here! It is Monday! Woo-Hoo! What is so great about Monday, you ask. It is time for the Greeting Card Challenge at The Outlawz! Once again I have created a card using scraps. This time my scraps are from frogs that I cut out last Spring 2010. I have been going crazy over what I have learned over the past month. I learned how to whip up an easel card and I had no idea how easy it is! I was so intimidated by the project. Now I can't stop wanting to make another and another!  I do hope you will consider joining us over at The Outlawz and show us your stuff! :D

Dirt Bike Birthday

My daughter is so funny. She asked me to spend my day making her guy friend a birthday card instead of cleaning carpets and the rest of the chores I had planned for the day. ;) So, I spent my day fussing with the Cricut machine only to discover the reason my paper kept moving around was because I was not using my mat. Ugh! Wasted half of my last sheet of 12x24 black card stock over this. It took me that long to figure it out. Then, I was trying to make the card a dirt bike theme but with checkered flags and it wasn't turning out, I didn't take in consideration the silhouette of the dirt biker would not stand out. Black on black. So I went another route. But when my daughter gets home she doesn't like that I placed a bow on it and the fact that the background was a light blue sparkly paper. So she left it behind only to return to pick the card back up. She was afraid it would be to girly and that he wouldn't like it. But since they already new about it of course they wanted to at least see it and decide for them selves. She said he really liked it.
